Season's Sightings
Sensational So Far

by Rick Thompson

Well, here we are almost into our summer season. May has been a great month for sightings with J pod being in our viewing area frequently. With the recent arrival of L pod, the activity has been building and the sightings have been excellent. We still await the arrival of K pod and hope to have some "super pod" activity soon.

Bald eagles have been in abundance along the jetty, with a count of sixty-five eagles on a recent trip.

Sea lions have also been abundant, with around fifty animals on the jetty for most of the month of May. The sea lions do seem to be intent on staying around a little longer this season.

Also, the Dall's porpoises were seen in large numbers, and were very active and playful for most of the month.

We are looking forward to warm and sunny days for June, along with great sightings and new discoveries.

Calm Seas... Great sightings,

Captain Rick
