WEBSITE NEWS UPDATE: New look being uploaded starting March 1, 2011

Hello,

just to keep you up to date on whats going on behind the scenes.

I plan to begin uploading the new look onto the Site Build It servers begining today. This will be a lengthy process and is only a partial update.

This site has about 1100 pages of which the bulk is comprised of comment pages like this one. Converting the comments pages is actually an easy upload and will take up the bulk of the conversion of this site to it's new look.

There are approximately 200+ pages that have to be converted and uploaded one page at a time. Thats the time consuming part and I will only be doing 100 pages initially.

You should expect to have difficulty navigating this site in the next few days. Some pages will have the old look and others the new look. Some sections will completely disappear from the new look site and reappear later this month.

Once the initial conversion is over I will then need to go back through the site and make numerous small changes. There will be some changes made to the navigation of the site, some new links will be put in and there will be some sections completely rewritten.

Its a big job but it has to be done.

Thanks for your patience,

Mike Corbin

Re:ads

The ads show different for me and this is based upon my own browsing habits. Google has an algorithim in their ads that will show ads based upon a person's browsing habits. Not necessarily ads that are relevant to this site.

At any rate the ads are just on the site as place holders and can be available to anyone who would like to advertise in those places. But getting that program up is another one of my many projects for this site.

Thanks for the update, Mike. I, as I am sure many others, will be looking for the updates and improvements you are doing to this web site.

However, one thing that you are probably already aware of, but just in case you aren't, is the ads. So why am I receiving an ad offering me discounts on a variety of things in Los Angeles. But to pay for a flight from here to LAX and then a cab ride to where ever in LA (who knows how much that would cost, let along the return fare) plus a hotel for the night ... well let me say that even at 90% off it would make it more than I can afford, especially when there are great restaurants as well as things to do right here in the lower mainland. (Yes, even with fairy fare to Victoria I and my wife could still enjoy the time together, but paying less than going to LA!)
