Waves Coffee House opens Saturday

Meandered by the about-to-be-opened Waves Coffee House yesterday to see the progress being made for their opening. Saturday, I was told before being invited in for a drink and a preview. Inside is a modern, spacious layout with beautiful slate floors, south and east-facing windows, a fireplace and a new staff training session in full swing. Add to this a south-facing patio and free 24hr Wi-Fi, and they have most of what customers look for in a coffee house.

I met with the Wave's founder, who founded it in 2005 with Steveston being his 16th store, as they call 'em in the biz. Cathy Bach, District Manager, showed me around--ok, she didn't kick me out--and handed me my comp cold drink, a lemon iced tea. I was told that all their iced teas were based on Rooibos Red Tea, of which I'm a frequent drinker.

My iced tea had a strong, but not bitter, taste of tea and perfect lemon to sugar levels for my taste buds. My friend was given a Mango Mania fruit frappé which was out-of-this world. I practically lived on mango smoothies while living in Australia a few years back, so expect to see this mango lover sipping my way to tropical bliss at The Wave from now on.


So, if the rest of their menu lives up to our limited intro, all I can say is give the Wave Coffee House a try. Opening Saturday, August 1st, see you there.
