Sea Breeze Media, throught its Sustainability Statement, highlights the sustainable business practices we follow in running our business, while encouraging others to join in.
e have long believed at Sea Breeze Media, developer of this website, in conducting business in a sustainable manner. With global climate change and fairness to the have nots in the world, it's the least we
should do. It's just not good enough anymore to just offer good service and respect for one's customers, a mandate we also strongly support. We also all need to do our part, at work and at home, to respect our planet and its finite resources in how we conduct business and live our lives.
With this in mind, we at Sea Breeze Media follow these practices while conducting our business within our community:
Our computers an printers are turned off whenever not being used.
We print only when necessary, and then duplex—both sides—when appropriate.
We reuse paper when possible.
We use recycled paper products almost exclusively.
We recycle all paper products.
We work from home, which eliminates commuting, power and heating pollution.
I use personal electric transportation—wheelchair—and public transit for longer trips.
We use buy EnergySTAR® office equipment, whenever possible.
We use rechargeable batteries.
Our business is conducted strictly online to save trees from being used for paper to publish adsheets or magazines.
Website photos taken with digital cameras, negating hardcopy to digital conversion.
Whe use natural sunlight to like the office, and when we use lighting, we use halogen and florescent which save 15% to 70% over conventional lighting.
We try to make large office supply orders to cut down on deliveries required and in bulk to cut down on excess packaging.
Have converted to a more energy efficient laptop, as my six-year-old desktop is not only too noisy—noise pollution—but parts of it are beginning to fail. The replacement laptop was purchased from Apple Computer's refurbished bin, so is being reused preowned computer.
The above practices are not hard, or expensive, to implement into your daily business routine. After all, if we continue to force our environment to degrade, eventually there will be no economy, or more correctly, a highly reduced economy and what do you think that will do to our businesses? Will make our current recession look like the good ole days. Join me in doing what you can, as every little bet helps.
