On Saturday 28, 2007, a beautiful spring day, Steveston High had an Open House in celebration of its Golden Anniversary. There was a dunk tank, some restored cars and a lot of old photos that visitors could view. Visitors toured the themed class rooms, while Principal, Jim Allison, cut the cake with pieces handed out to the crowd. The school band played, led by band conductor, Dave Dewald. Some '60s music was played as the crowd enjoyed the memories. There was free food for everyone. Some of the visitors enjoyed the live drama that some of the students put on. A lot of former students came for the anniversary celebration and to relive the memories. Steveston was a junior high when it opened its doors in 1956 and honored it first graduating class in 1965. It became a senior secondary in 1959. Ernie Ball, was Steveston High's first principal until 1965. ![]()
