Steveston Non-profits Recognized

A number of non-profit organizations in Richmond were recognized in the Legislature this week. Richmond-Steveston MLA John Yap rose in the Legislature in Victoria to speak about non-profit societies in his constituency.

"I rise today to recognize the efforts of a group of local not-for-profit societies in my community," said Yap. "The group of seven is a collection of grass roots volunteer groups that work diligently to improve Richmond and the village of Steveston.

"The group includes the Gulf of Georgia Cannery Society, the Britannia Heritage Shipyard Society, the London Farm Historical Society, the Steveston Museum, the Steveston Community Society, the Rotary Club of Steveston and the Steveston Harbour Authority."

Yap said each of the groups work for the greater good by engaging community members and coordinating volunteer efforts to produce a variety of programs and events in Richmond and Steveston.
