Steveston Community Centre Celebrates 50 Years!
The Steveston Community Society was originally founded in 1891 as the Richmond Agricultural and Industrial Society, known affectionately as "The AG," and is still in existence today under the care of the Steveston Community Society. The Steveston Community Society was established in 1944 and its objectives read, in part, "to promote the establishment and development of a community centre in Steveston." The Steveston Community Centre was officially opened on November 2, 1957 by the Hon. Leslie Peterson, Provincial Minister of Education and Reeve E.R. Parsons. The Steveston Community Society worked tirelessly for 10 years raising over $40,000 for the building. For further information and to purchase tickets, please contact the Steveston Community Centre at 604-718-8080.
