Learn more about the fish that built Steveston... The Salmon, often referred to as the King of Fish. Steveston was once home of the largest fishing fleet in the world, due to the mighty salmon. Although Steveston's glory days as the center of the world's salmon industry, with 15 canneries along the banks of the Fraser River, and employing thousands of workers, trades people and fishers, Steveston is still very much a fishing town with the largest fishing fleet in Canada.

Salmon is high in protein, low in saturated fat and cholesterol, ocean-caught salmon is ideal for the diet-conscious consumer. Not only that, but salmon is a good source of polyunsaturated omega-3 fatty acids, which medical research indicates, may reduce the risk of heart disease. So, not only is salmon good for you, but is a tasty and versatile fish for eating, cooked or raw. Enjoy!
