Rivermania, BC 150 and Farmers' Market Ends With a Party
by Dave Davis
On my way to the festivities at Fisherman's Park, the music wafted through the air from 600-meters away, becoming louder as I approached the village. There were more people than usual enjoying the Imperial Walkway. The day was sunny, but crisp, with a nippy wind from the west. Caught the tail end of Tiller's Foley, then off to the market to chat with friends. On my way back to the Cannery, the season's end party for market merchants, the mayor, our MLA, John Yap and others was underway. I was somehow left off the list, so I was allowed to crash the party as "The Media." My buddy, Ken Iaci, chef/owner of Papi's was catering the party, so I knew the food would be good. Doghouse was again on stage, with lots of people milling around. The servers from Papi's kept everyone well fed, with one lovely las in black popping a tasty morsel in my mouth with most every pass... Thanks, doll. To the organizers, job well done. So, what's up for next year? |
