This AAA service works for USA and Canada destinations, but remember, Steveston is NOT an independent town as it is part of the City of Richmond, BC which, in turn, is part of Metro Vancouver.
If you're driving to Steveston, and just want some quick directions, here goes:
FROM DOWNTOWN VANCOUVER (Approx. 17 km/11 miles. Total Travel Time approx. 29 minutes): Granville Street south and bear left onto SW Marine Drive >>> Bear right to access the Arthur Lang Bridge (Airport) >>> Arthur Lang Bridge becomes Grant McConachie Way >>> Take the ramp toward Richmond/South Terminal/Aerogare Sud >>> Stay straight to go onto Russ Baker Way >>> Russ Baker Way becomes No. 2 Road Bridge >>> No. 2 Road Bridge becomes No. 2 Road >>> Continue south on No. 2 Road and cross over Steveston Highway >>> Continue south until you reach Moncton Street (3-way Stop) >>> Turn right, and continue west on Moncton Street until you reach the village. Moncton is Steveston's main street.
FROM THE AIRPORT (Approx. 12 km/7.5 miles. Total Travel Time approx. 19 minutes): Head east on Grant McConachie Way >>> Turn right onto Templeton Street >>> Then left onto Miller Road >>> Then turn right onto Russ Baker Way to No. 2 Road Bridge >>> No. 2 Road Bridge becomes No. 2 Road >>> Continue south on No. 2 Road and cross over Steveston Highway >>> Continue until you reach Moncton Street (3-way Stop) >>> Turn right, and continue west on Moncton Street until you reach the village. Moncton is Steveston's main street.
FROM THE FERRY (Approx. 28 km/17 miles. Total Travel Time approx. 25 minutes): Highway 17 north-east to Highway 99> >>> Continue north on Highway 99 through the George Massey Tunnel >>> Continue and bear right onto Steveston Exit >>> Turn left, at the lights, onto Steveston Highway >>> Steveston Highway west to No. 1 Road >>> Turn left at No. 1 Road and go south to Moncton Street (traffic lights, the only ones in the village) >>> Turn right at Moncton Street to go into the village. Moncton is Steveston's main street.
FROM THE CANADA/US BORDER (Approx. 42 km/26 miles. Total Travel Time approx. 37 minutes): Take Interstate I-5 north to the US/Canadian border >>> In British Columbia, I-5 becomes Highway 99 >>> Continue north on Highway 99 until you see the Steveston Exit sign >>> Bear right onto the Steveston Exit >>> Turn left, at the lights, onto Steveston Highway >>> Steveston Highway west to No. 1 Road >>> Turn left at No. 1 Road and go south to Moncton Street (traffic lights, the only ones in the village) >>> Turn right at Moncton Street to go into the village. Moncton is Steveston's main street.
If you're visiting from out of town, you may be using public transit, or TransLink. Well, here, too, you're in luck, as many of the buses coming into Richmond also venture down to Steveston. Bus routes numbers 401, 402, 407, 410, 490, 491, 492, 496 and C93 all make stops on Chatham Street, one-block north of Moncton, Steveston's main street. Some routes operated during the weekday commute only, and most originate from and return to Richmond Centre. Most buses are low-floor, ramp equipped, so access for wheelchair users is almost assured. Even the smaller Community bus, C93, is lift-equipped, and is the only bus to run east/west to and from Ironwood Centre Mall, and the Riverport Recreation Complex, without going through Richmond Centre first.
So, no excuses now for not visiting Steveston, BC. It's a great little village, and a not-to-be-missed area when visiting the Greater Vancouver area. If you live in the Vancouver area, do yourself a favor and come on down for a visit. Don't forget the kids and a camera. See you soon!
