Picture Perfect Bed and Breakfast Owner Brings Home AwardSteveston's Dave Kemp, of Picture Perfect Bed and Breakfast, brings home Tourism Richmond's 2005 Gateway Award for Service Excellence."Lesley & Dave, thank you so much for your kind hospitality. We are glad that we did not go into Vancouver, but stayed with you and discovered much by the help of Dave's photos. A beautiful spot Richmond is. Thank you for the magnificent breakfasts (we saw the eye of the photographer and the hand of the chef), the beautiful room and house, the hot tub, but most of all, your efforts to make us feel at home."- Dorthe and Rob, Maldeu, The NetherlandsPicture Perfect Bed and Breakfast, located on a quiet street just off Williams Road, is mere blocks from Richmond's West Dyke Trail and 5 minutes, by car, north of Steveston Village. Along the Trail, there are extensive views of tidal marsh lands, and is the scenic way to walk to the Village via the back door. Then again, if you're in a hurry or just feeling lazy, or tired, just head south via the nearby No. 1 Road straight into the heart of the Village. Also, it's not far from the Richmond business core, or the Vancouver International Airport, both 15 minutes away. Vancouver is 30 minutes north by car, and 55 minutes by bus. Their third year of operation, Dave and Leslie enjoy welcoming guests from around the world. They've been members of Tourism Richmond since 2004, and Dave has contributed pictures to Tourism publications and presentations. Through a Tourism Richmond referral last year, they were able to assist the Danish Friendtex Clothing Company with their winter catalog shoot. This involved showing them around Richmond, Vancouver, Whistler, Lillooet and Harrison Hot Springs. They were so impressed with the area, that the Kemps were asked to organize their return trip for the catalog shoot. Originally, they had thought to only go to Whistler and Vancouver Island. Dave and Lesley worked with each city, CN Rail, and tourist sites to make sure permits were in order for the various venues. The Gulf of Georgia Cannery, Steveston waterfront and Gilmore Barn were all used. Dave ordered boxes of purple cabbages locally to be delivered to the barn, and for the rental of an old truck to be used in the background. The local food bank benefited from the cabbages when the shoot was finished. Dave and Lesley strive to make every guest's stay special and memorable, and have many repeat customers, some who come for two weeks or more each time. They come as guests and leave as friends. That is the highest complement anyone can give us. |
