The volunteer gardeners do a great job in the mornings maintaining the garden and grounds. While visiting London Farm, take the time to educate yourself to really see what's around you, as you will discover a cornucopia of hidden gems with every step. Besides the flower garden, London Farm has many fruit trees, which attract many types of insects, as well as birds. Find birds eating berries atop the post, which clearly states, "Please do not pick or eat the berries." I only wish I had taken the picture. For the photography buffs reading this, most of these photographs were shot with a Canon 20D digital camera and a 100mm macro lens set at f7.1 and ISO 400.London Heritage Farm is a 4.6 acre site overlooking the south arm of the Fraser River. This heritage property, surrounded by Agricultural Land Reserve across Dyke Road from the river, offers a park-like setting. It features lovely flower gardens, the restored Spragg family barn, old farm equipment, chickens and comforts, such as picnic tables and public washrooms. The 1880's London farm house, which is the centerpoint of this heritage site, was fully restored and furnished to hightligh early rural life in Richmond. Six rooms display period furniture, accessories, pictures, photographs, clothing and quilts, etc. London Heritage Farm is now owned by the City of Richmond and operated by the London Heritage Farm Society. The house is open to the public with entrance by donation. Escorted house tours are available or you can tour on your own. The lower level of the house and tea room are wheelchair accessible. Tea is served throughout the season, with many special events on the grounds, as well. London Heritage Farm is located at 6511 Dyke Road, Richmond, BC V7E 3R3, approximately 3 kms east of the village. Tel|Fax: 604-271-5220 or website or Virtual Tour. ![]()
