The summer weather started a bit late this year, but it has now arrived, and is in full force. Richmond-Steveston is an exciting place year round, but shines especially bright during the summer months, with events such as: the Farmers & Artisans Market, Richmond Maritime Festival, Sockeye Spin Cycling Race and the Steveston Dragon Boat Festival to name a few.

Even though the house is adjourned for the summer, our government continues to work hard on your behalf:
- The Ministry of Attorney General is working on a review of the Family Relations Act. The goal is to modernize this act and establish a more co-operative approach to resolving family law disputes in British Columbia. Please go to www.ag.gov.bc.ca/legislation/ to provide input

- On Sept 20, 2010 the Province will enact the strictest drinking and driving laws in the country. Please go to www.gov.bc.ca/pssg/ for further information

- As Minister of State for Climate Action I continue to work on making our government carbon neutral by 2010. Carbon neutrality is an important step in the battle against climate change and municipalities all across the Province are working hard to achieve this goal

It is a pleasure and honor to serve the constituents of Richmond-Steveston. Please join me on Saturday, Sept. 11 from 9-10am for Java with John at the Cannery Café to keep in touch and discuss any concerns you may have. Have a fun and safe summer.
