Is there parking east of Steveston to access Finn Slough?

by Laura Blumenthal
(Vancouver, BC)

My walking group is planning a walk from Steveston to Finn's Slough and back, and because this is a long walk, we would like to know a place where we can park our cars on the east end of Steveston - is there one?

Thanks for asking, Laura. I would park along Dyke Road opposite London Heritage Farm.

There is also a small parking lot at London and Dyke Roads, just west of London Farm.

This will place you midway between the village and Finn Slough.

Now, if you visit on a weekend, drop in to the Farm for tea and scones.

To get to Finn Slough, walk east along the Dyke Road Trail until you get to No. 3 Road, then turn left and walk north until you reach Finn Road. Here you turn right and walk to Garden City Road where you turn right again and walk until you reach Dyke Road. At Dyke Road turn left and walk to Finn Slough at No. 4 Road. This will be around 5 kms or 3 miles. This is the scenic route.

If the above is a bit much, park at Ironwood Mall at Steveston Hwy. and No. 4 Road and head south on No. 4 until you reach Finn Slough, about 3 kms or 2 miles.

Enjoy,

Dave Davis

Hiking to Finn Slough and Back
by: Flying Finn

What Dave said is good information, but if you and your group want to hike from Steveston to Finn Slough and back, a good starting point with parking might be the Brittania Shipyard, or the Community Center at Steveston Park. Both offer quite a bit of parking, that is unless your group numbers in the hundreds.
