Might be, depending on what you're looking for
by: Dave Davis

Thank you for contacting Steveston iVillage. With regard to your first question, yes, Steveston Hotel, built in 1895, is the only hotel in Steveston. It was renovated a few years ago, but I have never personally seen the rooms, though I was there a couple days ago in the Steveston Cafe for lunch. From what I've seen and heard, the hotel is basic, but remember that many of the rooms are directly over the Buck & Ear Pub. Also, if there is anyone in your family who has trouble with stairs, be forewarned that there is no elevator in this heritage, 2-story structure. You may also check into our Steveston Accommodations Directory.

Regarding the kids fishing, I'm not a fisher, but it seems there are licenses required for both freshwater and saltwater angling. I believe that kids can get one, or both, licenses for free, but they still are required to have a license. Check these sites for fishing regulations and obtaining the required licenses.

There are many major hotels in Richmond, none more than a 20 minute drive from Steveston (45 minutes by bus).
