Dragon Boats Come to Steveston

At Britannia Heritage Shipyard the waters of the Fraser River come alive with the 1st Annual Steveston Dragon Boat Festival on August 21 and 22, 2010. To run simultaneously with the Richmond Maritime Festival at Britannia Shipyard, National Historic Site in Richmond, BC.

Funds raised will be in aid of the Richmond Food Bank and the Steveston Museum’s “Japanese Hospital” project.

Featuring 2 full days of dragon boat racing and other boating activities, non-stop entertainment and fabulous food and beverages, the event will also feature a sunset evening concert on Saturday night. No dragon boat paddling experience required for this event. All instruction for non-experienced teams will take place on Saturday morning, followed by races Saturday afternoon and all day Sunday.

Site admission is free to the general public. Prizes awarded include medals, cash, electronics and other great items. Participants and spectators are invited to raise pledges or donate for the Richmond Food Bank.
