Couple seeking short-term accommodations

My husband and I are planning a trip to BC for business/pleasure purposes. He is a professor of history at St. Francis Xavier University in Antigonish, Nova Scotia and will be in the area for the purpose of research and teaching for a 6-8 week period. We are looking for short-term accommodations possibly for May and June 2010. Most of his work will be done in downtown Vancouver, but because we like the Steveston area we would like to find accommodations there. We will not be bringing a car so easy access to public transportation would be important. Do you have any suggestions on how we might find something in your area?
